Katie Koester The Effingham Central Business Group is sponsoring the annual Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration downtown on the Courthouse square on Sunday, November 25thfrom 1:00-3:30 p.m. Santa is scheduled to arrive at his house via the Caledonia fire truck at 1:00 p.m.Date and Time

The afternoon will be fun filled with several exciting events taking place inside and outside of the Courthouse including horse and buggy rides provided by Bob’s Legacy Carriage Company, Plant a Winter Garden in conjunction with the Master Gardeners, Make & Take Christmas cookie decorating provided by Martin’s IGA, Take & Go Christmas photos taken by The Effingham Tourism office, Christmas Sing-A-Long with Chestnut Family Music, and Christmas Story Time led by Helen Matthes Library. Of course, Santa will be available for a visit as well from 1:00 – 4:00 PM that day. Each child will be given a special treat from Santa provided by the business group in conjunction with the Downtown Popcorn Company. Santa’s full schedule can be found on the Chamber website at www.effinghamchamber.org.
Complimentary hot chocolate and coffee will be available for the afternoon provided by Martin’s IGA. Raffle tickets will be sold for the “Spectacular Santa Sweep” inside the Courthouse starting at 1 PM. Tickets will be sold for $1.00 each or a bundle of 6 for $5.00. Winners will be drawn at 3:45 PM on the Courthouse lawn for several prizes donated by downtown businesses. Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go towards improvements for the Santa House.
